Our U12 athletes work to consolidate and refine basic ski skills while increasing the volume of training. U12 athletes participate in an extended season and have opportunities for Friday add-on training days. Athletes continue to race slalom (SL), giant slalom (GS), kinder kombi (KK) and are introduced to parallel events. Our U12 athletes also compete in the Alberta Alpine U12 Provincial Race Series.

Who: Athletes born in 2013 and 2014.

 

When: Monday pre-season Parkour training. Tuesday and Saturday pre-season dryland training. Saturday and Sunday, full day, on-snow program at Nakiska and Sunshine. Tuesday and Thursday evening training at Winsport

Time: Warm-up begins at 8:30 am. Group departs for chairlift at 9:00 am and finishes their day by 3:00 pm with a group cool-down. Lunches are timed to reflect an appropriate break in training and may be held at mid-mountain lodge. Athletes each lunch with their team.​

Start: On-snow program starts Saturday, November 9, 2024, dependent on Nakiska opening day.

Days Off: There is no skiing on February 15 and 16, 2025 for the Family Day long weekend.

Winter Break Training: There will be mid-week training during the school holiday. Schedule TBC.

Finish: The program finishes on Sunday, April 20, 2025 (weather dependent).

Fees Not Included in Program: Equipment, Lift Ticket, Race Entry Fees.

Volunteer/Fundraising Commitment: Please review our Volunteer Policy. There is no fundraising commitment.

Race Starts: U12 athletes will participate in the Alberta Alpine U12 Provincial Race Series. Overnight travel to races may be required to participate in a few of these events. Location of races is determined by Alberta Alpine.
