Helmet Policy

Nakiska Alpine Long B_4x-100.jpg

Athletes, staff and volunteers must wear alpine ski and snowboard helmets, correctly buckled and secured, at all times when clicked into ski or snowboard bindings. Staff and volunteers may remove their helmet when they are not clicked into their bindings while stationary on the hill (eg. for videotaping athlete training and volunteering in roles such as gate judge, jury, start and finish area).

All visiting athletes, coaches and volunteers, participating in a NASA organized event (eg. race), must also adhere to the NASA Helmet Policy. This policy will be stated on all race notices.

For additional clarity for our volunteers – if you are volunteering on snow in any capacity while skiing or snowboarding, you must wear a properly secured helmet. This includes roles such as tailgunning, carrying gates for coaches or painting dye on a course.

Individuals who forget their helmet, must rent one from the local resort rental shop in order to participate in any on hill activity.

APPROVED by NASA at the February 11, 2025 Board Meeting. Full implementation immediate.
